PRIMO MAXX® II Turf Growth Regulator 

PRIMO MAXX® II is a completely new formulation designed to meet the ever increasing regulatory hurdles and secure the long term future of this key management tool for turf managers. It delivers the same high performance as the original PRIMO MAXX formulation, with users continuing to apply the rates they have always used and achieving the same great results while applying less active ingredient.

Biochemically, PRIMO MAXX® II works by temporarily blocking the production of gibberellic acid within the plant leaf, effectively limiting cell elongation and vertical growth. This shortens the distance between shoot nodes, leading to more compact growth, while energy in the plant is diverted to boost both root and lateral growth — creating stronger, healthier and denser turf that plays more consistently and requires up to 35% less mowing.

Used from tee to green, PRIMO MAXX® II improves turf health and playing surface consistency across the course. On greens, it produces smoother, truer putting surfaces with more consistent roll throughout the day, superior rooting and drought stress tolerance, and greater over-winter disease and shade tolerance. On fairways and tees, it improves sward density and ball presentation, increases resistance to divoting, and improves wear and stress tolerance, while reducing mowing frequency, fuel use and machinery wear across fairways and roughs.

Research has shown PRIMO MAXX® II applications increase the level of bioactive cytokinins within the plant, improving tolerance to heat and drought-induced stress and delaying chlorophyll degradation to reduce leaf browning. In trials under drought conditions, PRIMO MAXX® II enhanced the photochemical efficiency of turf by over 75% compared to untreated turf, with relative water content remaining 20% higher than untreated turf 28 days after treatment. It is also an important part of Integrated Turf Management programmes, creating turf conditions less conducive to disease.

PRIMO MAXX® II is a soluble concentrate (SL formulation) containing 116 g/L trinexapac-ethyl, and mixes completely with water. It is compatible with a wide range of commonly used fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, fertilisers and pigments, and is recommended for tank mixing with a good quality liquid fertiliser with each application to maintain adequate plant nutrition for the best turf quality results.
